![]() ![]() It took me maybe 90 minutes to beat five or six new story missions in the main quest. But I’ve played enough to get at least a general sense of the expansion. ![]() ![]() I have not yet tried the new “Kill Confirmed” Crucible mode (yes, I know it’s not called that) and the new Wrath of the Machine raid isn’t out until Friday. So far, I’ve completed all the main story missions, mucked around in Patrol, started at least one exotic quest, done both new Strikes and fallen off Felwinter’s Peak at least once. It’s something that the Iron Lords of old fought in ages past, and it killed them all except Lord Saladin, who tasks you with restoring the Iron Temple at the top of Felwinter’s Peak, which serves as the game’s third social space for quests, bounties, vendors and so on. Instead of an entirely new zone like the Dreadnaught, Rise of Iron expands Old Russia by letting players into the “Plaguelands” where a mysterious, corruptive threat called SIVA is being wielded by the Fallen (or wielding the Fallen? Unclear). Rise of Iron is a true expansion in the sense that it’s actually building out the map. ![]()
